Sacramento Leader’s Statement on Tower Bridge Proposal

Statement from Assemblymember Kevin McCarty (D – Sacramento) and Senator Dr. Richard Pan (D – Sacramento) on Governor’s veto of Tower Bridge proposal:

Assemblymember Kevin McCarty (D – Sacramento):

“Although I’m disappointed in the Governor’s veto of the Tower Bridge relinquishment proposal, I am very confident that the actual transfer-with funding-will still occur.  The Governor’s commitment to direct Caltrans to work with the cities of Sacramento and West Sacramento on a funding and policy plan sets up a framework for a successful resolution.”

Senator Dr. Richard Pan (D – Sacramento):

“As a major employer and participant in the Sacramento region’s economy, California State government should be investing in building a strong Sacramento.  Today the Governor approved policy regarding the relinquishment of the Tower Bridge.  This is a good first step in making sure State government is a good steward and partner with the Sacramento region. I am confident that we will come to an agreement that helps promote a thriving downtown economy that is good for the entire region.”
