
Program Description
Assemblywoman Maggy Krell invites you to apply to the spring 2026 Young Legislators Program—a free, three-month program designed to empower the next generation of civic leaders. High school students in Assembly District 6, ages 16-18, are eligible to learn how California’s government works and develop leadership skills. (Find your district number and representative here.)
Program Overview
The Young Legislators Program provides hands-on education about the state legislative process and the individuals involved. This program offers a unique opportunity to view California’s legislative process right in the Capitol, combined with developing practical leadership and research skills. Participants will learn about the role of policymakers and develop a stronger understanding of how government works.
- Eligibility:
- High school students, juniors and seniors.
- Residing in or attending high school in Assembly District 6 during the 2026–2027 academic year. To see if your school or address is in Assembly District 6, click here.
- Duration: 3 months (February, March, and May 2026).
- Meeting Schedule:
- One Saturday session in February & March (10:00 am–1:00 pm).
- One Thursday session in May during the legislative session.

- Residence or school attendance in Assembly District 6.

- Cost:
- The entire program is free of charge.
