Assembly Budget Subcommittee #2 on Education

This year, I was proud to advocate and support a state budget that increased access to higher education in our state, especially for California’s students.  Recently, the Assembly Budget Subcommittee #2 on Education Finance held an oversight hearing at the University of California, Davis regarding enrollment and budget issues.

I was joined by my Assembly colleagues and representatives of the University of California (UC), to discuss and understand how UC campuses handle their budget and how to increase access for California’s students. I was happy to see the UC Regents take a major step forward in improving access by accepting the Legislature's offer of $25 million to increase enrollment by10,000 California students by the 2017-18 school year.
