(SACRAMENTO, CA) –After a successful day of introducing a comprehensive Pre-K for All Legislative Package, Assemblymember Kevin McCarty (D – Sacramento) along with California State Superintendent of Public Instruction-elect Tony Thurmond lead a delegation of early childhood education advocates to learn about successful East Coast Pre-K for All programs.
The tour includes policy staff and early education advocates from across California and will be focused on networking, brainstorming and learning best practices from exemplary pre-school programs. The 3-day delegation will be traveling to preschool programs in Boston and New Jersey which offer targeted Pre-K for All programs, and New York City which offers a universal Pre-K for All program.
Assemblymember McCarty’s newly introduced Pre-K for All Legislative Package includes three pieces of legislation, each designed to make high-quality preschool programs universally accessible for 3 and 4-year-old children across California.

The delegation includes staff and representatives from the Assembly Education Committee, Office of Asm. Eduardo Garcia, CA. Department of Education, Los Angeles Unified School District, First 5 California, Early Edge California, Association of CA School Administrators, Kidango, California Teachers Association, The David and Lucille Packard Foundation, Heising-Simons Foundation, and the California Blue Ribbon Commission on Early Childhood Education.
