(SACRAMENTO, CA) – Assemblymember Kevin McCarty (D- Sacramento) today applauded the California Air Resources Board’s decision to support Electrify America’s Cycle 2 ZEV Investment Plan, which will put California on the path to reach its ambitious climate goals.
Electrify America has committed to making an $800 million investment in the California economy over the 10 years of its ZEV Investment Commitment, by building a charging network for electric vehicles (EV) that includes all major metropolitan and a significant number of rural areas. Electrify America has partnered with the City of Sacramento and the Sacramento Regional Transit District to launch the two EV car share programs and an EV transit service in early 2019. This transit service will connect the Cities of Sacramento and Davis and will expand higher education access and economic development opportunities in the greater Sacramento region.
In Cycle 2, Electrify America will focus on continuing the buildout of the charging infrastructure, as well as, implementing an innovative residential charging program. Which is consistent with their commitment to invest at least 35% of its Cycle 2 dollars in disadvantaged and low-income communities throughout the state.
“As Sacramento’s representative in the California State Assembly, I was very pleased to see Electrify America designate Sacramento as its first “Green City” in Cycle 1, which will continue through Cycle 2,” said Assemblymember Kevin McCarty. “The new bus service connecting the City of Sacramento and the City of Davis is exactly the type of innovative investment that will make significant improvements for Sacramento”.
