(SACRAMENTO, Calif) – Assemblymember Kevin McCarty and Senator Richard Pan will be presenting a $1.8 million check to Fairytale Town on Tuesday, September 21st at 1:45 pm.
Located in William Land Park, Fairytale Town opened in 1959 and has seen millions of guests walk through their doors. The park consists of a 3.5 acre children’s play park and outdoor children’s museum, and brings children’s favorite fairytales to life allowing their imaginations to run wild.
The funds from Assemblymember McCarty and Senator Pan were made possible through the 2021 California budget and will be used to expand Fairytale Town with a new Story Center building and a new outdoor classroom/amphitheater.
“Fairytale Town gives children a chance to be kids. They have the ability to enjoy and interact in their favorite fairytale stories; using their minds creatively”, said Assemblymember McCarty. “I’ve spent many afternoons there with my girls and I hope these funds help Fairytale Town continue all of its great family-friendly activities.”
“The creativity of kids across northern California will get a tremendous boost thanks to the Story Center and the outdoor classroom funded by this grant,” said Fairytale Town Executive Director Kevin Smith-Fagan. “It’s a transformative gift, a lasting gift, to generations of children and families who will benefit from the Fairytale Town expansion.”
