Little Saigon Archway Unveiling Marks Significant Milestone for Sacramento’s Vietnamese Community

SACRAMENTO – Assemblymembers Kevin McCarty (D-Sacramento) and Stephanie Nguyen (D-Elk Grove) joined community leaders and residents today to unveil the new Little Saigon archway on Stockton Boulevard. This landmark, funded with $1.6 million in state and local resources, honors Sacramento’s Vietnamese community and its contributions to the city’s rich cultural fabric.

Assemblymember McCarty, who worked to secure the ethnic enclave designation for Little Saigon during his tenure on the Sacramento City Council, expressed pride in seeing the project come to fruition.

“The Little Saigon archway represents the heart and heritage of Sacramento’s Vietnamese community,” said Assemblymember Kevin McCarty. “I’m proud to have helped designate this area and provide the funding that made this project possible. It’s a lasting symbol of the contributions and resilience of this community.”

Assemblymember Stephanie Nguyen, a long-time advocate for the Vietnamese community and a key partner in the project, shared her personal connection to the landmark.

“As the first Democrat Vietnamese-American to represent both Sacramento and Elk Grove, this archway holds profound significance for me and my community,” said Assemblymember Stephanie Nguyen. “It symbolizes our shared history, culture, and the generations who have helped make Little Saigon a vibrant part of Sacramento. This landmark will welcome visitors and preserve our heritage for years to come.”

The project is the culmination of collaboration between state and local officials, community organizations, and businesses in the Little Saigon district. The archway will serve as a cultural gateway, inviting locals and visitors to explore the diverse businesses and experiences Little Saigon has to offer.
