(Sacramento) – The American River is vitally important to the people, economy and culture of Sacramento and West Sacramento. Which is why Assemblymember Kevin McCarty (D-Sacramento) wrote legislation (Assembly Bill 1716) to establish the Lower American River Conservancy (LARC). AB 1716 will make the river eligible for additional state resources. “Approximately 8 million people visit the American River Parkway each year and it generates an estimated $364 million annually for the local economy,” said Assemblymember McCarty. “This bill creates a new program within the Wildlife Conservation Board, with the goal of enhancing and protecting the natural habitat and water conveyance of the American River.” Here’s more in this Assembly Access video. http://www.asmdc.org/mccarty
